Kia Sonet is one of the most popular sub-4 meter compact SUV in the country. It competes with cars like Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 in the segment. Kia launched Sonet in the market last year and it quickly became popular among buyers for its looks, features and pricing. It is one of the most feature loaded SUV in the segment. Kia recently launched the first anniversary edition of Sonet SUV in the market. Here we have a video that shows how different is the anniversary edition from the regular versions.
The video has been uploaded by BMC HD Videos on their YouTube channel. The first anniversary edition of Kia Sonet is offered in limited numbers at a price starting at Rs 10.79 lakh, ex-showroom. Kia had launched the anniversary edition to celebrate the success of this compact SUV in India.

Kia has made some cosmetic changes to the SUV to differentiate it from the regular Tech Line or GT Line versions. Kia has mentioned that the design is inspired from Auroch which is a Eurasian wild bull. Kia added a faux skid plate at the front and rear to give it a muscular look. The Orange or Tangerine coloured inserts can be seen at several parts of the car.
The signature tiger-nose grille at the front gets First Anniversary edition badge on it and there are orange accents in the grille as well. This gives the Sonet a different look than usual. Kia Sonet is offering anniversary edition in Aurora Black pearl, Glacier white pearl, Steel silver & Gravity grey shades. The one seen in the video here is the Aurora Black Pear and it looks extremely good on this.
Other than these cosmetic changes nothing much has changed in the Kia Sonet mechanically. The anniversary edition is available with the 1.0 litre turbo petrol and 1.5 litre diesel engine option. It offers decent amount of features like touchscreen infotainment screen, electric sunroof, leatherette upholstery, multi-function steering wheel, cruise control and so on. The also difference between the regular and the anniversary edition is the difference in appearance.
The Kia Sonet 1.0 litre turbo petrol version with iMT gearbox is priced at Rs 10.79 lakh, ex-showroom. The 7 speed DCT version costs Rs 11.49 lakh, ex-showroom. The Diesel manual version is priced at Rs 11.09 lakh, ex-showroom and the automatic variant is at Rs 11.89 lakh, ex-showroom. Coming to the engine itself, the 1.0 litre, three cylinder turbocharged engine generates 120 Ps and 172 Nm of peak torque. This is the same engine that is also used in Hyundai Venue turbo petrol and Hyundai i20 turbo and N Line.
The diesel version is powered by the 1.5 litre, four cylinder turbocharged unit. The engine generates a maximum of 100 Ps and 250 Nm of peak torque. The engine is available with both manual and automatic transmission option. The engine produces is tuned differently for both transmissions. The manual version generates 100 Ps while the automatic version generates 115 Ps. Kia also offers a 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine which is not available with anniversary edition.
