The all-new Kia Sonet is expected to be launched at around the festive season in India. It will be based on the same platform that underpins the Hyundai Venue in the Indian market. The all-new Sonet concept that was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo is about 90% similar to the production version. We will get to see different door handles, different alloy wheels, and a few changes around.

The concept version gets the Tiger Nose grille at the front with sleek headlamps on either side. It gets LED DRLs that add a unique identity to the car. The Sonet gets a young styling and looks like a car that has been designed for the youngsters. The concept model also gets a floating-type black roof and flared wheel arches that are the signature design of an SUV. Also, there is a thick body cladding all around.

Kia has not revealed the cabin of the Kia Sonet yet but it is expected to get a funky layout. The Sonet is expected to get a 10.25-inch screen similar to the Kia Seltos. It will be the biggest screen available in the segment. The infotainment will also get the UVO Connect feature that will offer similar features like the Kia Seltos. There will be other segment-first features available with the Sonet too. There will an audio system sourced from Bose and there will be ventilated seats too.

Also, the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine will be available in the car. The diesel variants will get powered by the 1.5-litre diesel engine that powers the Seltos. It will be de-tuned in the Sonet. We can also be expected to get the 7-speed DCT transmission that is available with the Venue. Kia will also offer the first-in-segment iMT or intelligent Manual Transmission. It will be the first clutchless transmission in a production car in India. The Sonet is expected to get a price tag of around Rs 7 lakhs in the market.
