Kia Sonet: ARAI official fuel efficiency figures revealed before launch

Kia Sonet is the latest entrant into the popular sub-4 meter compact SUV segment. When launched next month, it will compete with cars like Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport in the segment. Kia has already started accepting booking for the Sonet officially and will be launching it next month. More details about the upcoming Sonet SUV has started surfacing online and one such important information recently shared was the fuel efficiency figure of the sub-4 meter compact SUV. Here we have a video that explains the same.

The video has been uploaded by Team Car Delight on their youtube channel. The information regarding the engine and gearbox was already known to people. It is available with a 1.0 litre, three cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.5 litre diesel engine. The 1.0 litre turbo petrol engine generates 118 Bhp and 172 Nm of torque. It is available with a manual, iMT and 7-speed DCT gearbox.

According to the video, 1.0 litre turbo petrol engine on Kia Sonet with iMT gearbox will return 18.2 kmpl and the DCT version will return 18.3 kmpl. The iMT version does 0-100 kmph sprint in 12.3 seconds whereas the DCT version does it in 11.3 seconds. The 1.2 litre naturally aspirated engine which generates 82 Bhp and 115 Nm of torque will be available with a manual gearbox only. The 1.2 litre engine will do 0-100 kmph in 13.3 seconds and will return a fuel economy of 18.4 kmpl.

The last engine on offer is a 1.5 litre diesel engine that is available with a manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox. The engine generates 99 Bhp and 240 Nm of torque with manual gearbox and the automatic version generates 113 Bhp and 250 Nm of torque. The manual version of diesel Sonet will return a 24.1 kmpl whereas the automatic version will return 19 kmpl. This is actually more than what its direct rival Hyundai Venue is currently offering.

Kia Sonet is a bold looking compact SUV with all LED headlamps, heartbeat shaped LED DRLs, diamond cut alloy wheels and so on. On the inside, it gets ventilated seats, electric sunroof, 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment screen, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, UVO connect features, Air purifier and so on.
