Kia Motors India is all set to launch their third product – Sonet SUV in the market. It is a sub-4 meter compact SUV that will compete with cars like Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300 in the segment. Kia has already released online sketches of the upcoming SUV and will be officially unveiling it on 7th of August 2020. According to some of the reports that are surfacing online, variant details of the upcoming Sonet compact SUV has been revealed ahead of the official launch.
As per Team-Bhp, the upcoming Sonet SUV will come in Tech Line as well as GT Line trims. The Tech Line trims will be available with a 1.2 litre naturally aspirated engine and a 1.5 litre diesel engine. Tech Line will have four trims namely – HTE, HTK, HTX and HTX+. The GT Line on the other hand will be the sporty variant and will be powered by a 1.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine. This variant will be available in GTK, GTX and GTX+ trims.

The Sonet Tech Line will be the regular variant and will have fabric upholstery, dual tone (black and beige) interiors and the sporty GT Line will have an all black cabin with red accents at places. These red accents will be seen on the exterior of the car as well (similar to Seltos GT Line). Apart from this, the new compact SUV will have features like a sporty looking alloy wheel, touchscreen infotainment screen, multi function steering wheel, UVO connect app, wireless charging and so on. It will also get features like LED headlamps and tail lights, upto 6 airbags and an electric sunroof.
Talking about the gearbox, the 1.2 litre petrol and 1.5 litre diesel and expected to comes with a manual gearbox only. The 1.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine will come with an option of Intellingent Manual Transmission (iMT) and a 7-speed DCT gearbox. A manual transmission is also expected to be launched with the 1 liter turbo petrol engine. Kia Sonet has been spotted testing several times on our roads and several dealerships have also started accepting booking unofficially for the upcoming SUV. Kia Motors quickly became popular in India and they recently crossed 1 lakh sales mark in just over 11 months. The Sonet could be instrumental for pushing sales to 2 lakh units by mid 2021.
