Sub-4 meter SUV segment is one of the most popular segment in the country. Almost every manufacturer has an SUV in this space. One of the most popular SUV in the segment is the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza which has been ruling the segment for years now. The latest entrant in the segment is the Kia Sonet which competes with cars like Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300 in the segment. Here we have a video that compares Maruti’s Brezza and Kia Sonet on the basis of looks, features, drive and handling.
The video has been uploaded by Anubhav Chauhan on his youtube channel. The video starts by comparing the rear of both the SUVs. The vlogger is comparing the HTK Plus variant of Sonet with LXI variant of Brezza. Even the base variant of Maruti Brezza comes with LED tail lamps whereas the Sonet gets conventional type lights. Coming to the front, Maruti Brezza offers single projector headlamps with LED foglamps whereas the Sonet offers regular headlamps with projector fog lamps.
In terms of looks, Sonet wins it from the front whereas the Brezza looks more SUVish from the rear. Lower variants of both compact SUVs get steel rims and the Sonet offers more ground clearance than Brezza. Coming to the interiors, Brezza offers a simple looking cabin with just a music played in it. The HTK Plus trim which is more comparable to the VXI trim offers a touchscreen infotainment screen too. Brezza offers features like power windows for both front and rear whereas the base variant of Sonet offers power window for the front only.
Coming to the seat comfort, Brezza offers more space at the rear and can easily seat 3 passengers. Sonet offers best in class boot space and in order to provide that they had to compromise a bit on the space for rear passengers. Brezza is available with a 1.5 litre petrol engine with a manual and automatic gearbox. The Sonet seen in the video uses a 1.2 litre petrol engine and is available with a manual gearbox only.
According to the vlogger, Sonet felt a bit more comfortable because of its light steering and soft suspension setup. The only place where Brezza scored was the engine. The engine felt bit more peppier and was fun to drive as well. Overall, the vlogger was impressed with both the SUVs. Both SUVs have their pros and cons and it all comes to what a customer is looking for. Maruti Brezza is more affordable in terms of service and maintenance but, Sonet offers a long list of features that no other SUV in the segment offers.
