KTM 390 Duke based Adventure bike’s launch timeline revealed

KTM 390 Duke is a massively popular bike in the Indian market. The entry-level performance naked bike and its fully faired cousin – the RC 390 attract a lot of enthusiasts. KTM announced that they are developing an Adventure version based on the 390 Duke and just before the launch of the BMW GS 310 in India, the Austrian manufacturer announced that it will launched in the Indian market soon.

According to a new article, the all-new KTM 390 ADV would be launched by the end of 2019. A formal announcement would be made by the manufacturer on the launch date of the bike by the end of this financial year too. The KTM 390 ADV is one of the most-awaited bikes in the Indian market. With the sudden surge of Adventure motorcycle launches in the Indian market like the Himalayan and the BMW GS 310, KTM would soon join the bandwagon. The small capacity ADV bikes are much-appreciated by the enthusiasts as they are easier to handle and do no need expensive after-sales service.

The ADV version of the 390 Duke would be quite similar to the street bike but it will have a lot of differences, especially striking difference in the design of the bike. The 390 ADV would sit on a modified version of the KTM 390 Duke chassis. It will help with the higher ground clearance of the bike. Also, the bike would get long-travelling suspension system at front and rear to ensure that the ride on the rough roads are smooth. The alloy wheels have also been updated to new spoked rims, that are much more suitable for off-road rides as they are more flexible than the alloy wheels and can be used for more rugged riding.

Earlier spy pictures show that the KTM 390 ADV would get the same headlamp design as the 390 Duke. Also, there would be a windscreen to kill the wind blast and other things like mud and pebbles. The design looks much similar to the KTM’s bigger adventure bikes like 1290 Adventure R and also gets small wind deflectors mounted below the fuel tank. This would help a lot during high-speed highway riding. As we know that the 390 Duke’s engine is quite powerful and can attain high speed quickly, the ADV version would be a breeze to ride on the highways. KTM has also redesigned the fuel tank to make it slimmer, it would allow the riders to ride while standing on the foot pegs. There are also additional reinforcement done to the underbody and the radiator, which are quite susceptible to hits during the off-roading sessions. The instrument cluster too, is similar to the KTM 390 Duke and will show various information about the bike.

The engine of the KTM 390 ADV would remain similar to the KTM 390 Duke. It will get the same 373cc, single-cylinder engine with a six-speed transmission. The would be made in India and is expected to be much cheaper than the direct rival – BMW GS 310R.
