Off-road or adventure motorcycle segment has suddenly seen a spike in the Indian market. We have seen more manufactrers entering this segment and even coming up with affordable options for price sensitive market like ours. We currently have Royal Enfield Himalayan, Hero Xpulse, BMW G 310 GS and the latest KTM 390 Adventure in the affordable segment. KTM 390 Adventure is the most feature rich motorcycle in this segment and is priced at Rs 2.99 lakh, ex-showroom. Here we have a video that shows a KTM 390 Adventure motorcycle that has been modified with spoke wheels that helps it perform better in off-road conditions.
The video has been uploaded by HDT Customs on their youtube channel. The video starts by saying that the KTM 390 Adventure is a ery capable adventure tourer motorcycle and one of the important feature missing in the motorcycle was the spoke wheels. The vlogger worked on it and installed it with aftermarket aluminium rims with spokes. The bike gets 19 inch rims at the front and 17 inch at the rear with Continental AT tyres. This gives it a better stance as well.

The vlogger had to make some minor changes to accommodate this new wide aluminium rim. The stock wheel hub on the motorcycle was replaced with a unit from RE Himalayan. It was not a perfect fit and he had to make some alterations in that as well. The main reason behind this update was that with alloy wheels, the chances of bending a wheel under extreme off-road conditions were pretty high. The spoke wheels or wired spoke wheels absorb the impact and offer a comfortable ride too.
Apart from this, no major modifications are made to the motorcycle.. It uses the same ABS sensor rings and the stock mudguard has been replaced with an aftermarket unit. Overall, this simple modification has enhanced the look of KTM 390 Adventure and made it look like a proper adventure motorcycle ready to take on any road conditions.
KTM 390 Adventure is feature loaded motorcycle and gets lean sensitive traction control, full colour TFT display, disc brakes on both wheels with switchable ABS, cornering ABS and bi-directional quickshifter. It is powered by the same engine that powers Duke 390 and RC 390. It generates a maximum of 43 Bhp and 37 Nm of torque. A 6 speed manual gearbox with slipper clutch is standard.
