KTM RC200 sportsbike gets a new paint scheme

KTM has just given its entry-level, fully faired sportsbike – the RC200, a new, black paint scheme. The RC200 in black joins the version with the white paint scheme, taking the total number of colours offered on the sportsbike to two. Apart from the new paint job, nothing else has changed on the KTM RC200, which competes with the likes of the Yamaha R15 V3.0 and the Honda CBR 250R in terms of price and positioning. The bike is priced at Rs. 1,77,638, ex-showroom, Delhi. ABS is still not offered as standard on the KTM RC200, and this will be remedied by April 2019 as all motorcycle makers in India will have to offer at least single channel ABS as standard on all the 125cc+ bikes sold here.

The KTM RC200 is powered by a 199.5 cc, single cylinder four stroke engine with 25 Bhp of peak power and 19 Nm of peak torque. The engine gets liquid cooling, fuel injection and a four valve head with twin overhead camshafts. Known to be a high strung unit that loves to be revved, the engine gets a 6 speed manual gearbox. Suspension on the motorcycle consists of upside down front forks and a monoshock rear. Tyres are tubeless and are shod on alloy wheels. There are disc brakes on both wheels as standard. The RC200 is fully faired and gets a Trellis frame that offers great handling.

In fact, the KTM RC200 is aimed mainly at buyers looking to learn the art of riding sportsbikes, and serves as an excellent track tool. The bike is meant to be an entry-level sportsbike to acquaint riders with hard cornering and lean angles. Its riding position is quite extreme and this can make the KTM RC200 cumbersome in everyday traffic for everyone except the fittest and youngest riders. So, if you’re looking for a similar capacity motorcycle for city streets, the Duke 200 – also sold by KTM – is a top pick. For those who want a bike to go corner carving during the weekends and riding on the track, the KTM RC200 ticks all the right boxes.
