Lamborghini Urus: Deliveries of India’s most POWERFUL SUV begin

by CarToq Editor

Famous Italian sports car maker Lamborghini has commenced the delivery of its premium sports SUV in India. The Urus, as its known, has reached its first Indian customer in Mumbai.

Although the Urus is not the first SUV the company has made (yeah, search LM002), it for sure is the most powerful one. Talking about power, this SUV or SSUV (Super Sports Utility Vehicle) as the company prefers to call it, is the most powerful of its sort in the whole world. Well we are not surprised, it’s a Lamborghini after all.

The Urus has a 4.0-litre Twin Turbo V8 engine under the hood, a first in the automaker’s history (turbos). The V8 mill is tuned to churn out 641 Bhp of power and 850 Nm of peak torque. The SUV can hit the 0-100 kmph in 3.6 seconds and 200 kmph in 12.8 seconds. Those figures can easily shame a supercar, while you have your evening sundae in a 2.2-tonnes SUV. The Urus has a top speed of 305 kmph which is again a great number considering its heft. The V8 engine is paired with an 8-speed torque converter, and comes with a central torsion differential 4 Wheel Drive with torque vectoring rear differential.

Talking about the interiors, the country’s first Urus comes with Q-Citura (read red) pattern stitching on the black leather seats a panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting. The feature list also includes a 360-degree surround view camera, a custom Bang & Olufsen 3D surround sound system and the ANIMA drive modes. In addition to the standard Strada, Sport and Corsa modes, the SUV also gets Sabbia (sand), Terra (gravel), Neve (snow) and Ego (fully customisable) modes to take on rough terrains.

The first Urus to have graced our shores is finished in the Rosso Anteros paint scheme which is essentially red in Lamborghini language. This particular car runs on 22-inch diamond-finish Nath wheels (21- and 23-inch wheels are available as options). It also is spec-ed with the Style package, which adds gloss black exterior trim elements, a bright chrome finish for the stylish quad tailpipes and red brake callipers.

Also, the Urus is based on the same MLB Evo platform that underpins other VW Group SUVs, such as the Bentley Bentayga, Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne. All these companies come under the umbrella of Volkswagen so that is acceptable.

The current asking price of this mighty SUV is Rs. 3.10 crore but with all the selected options and customisations, expect this one to be cost around Rs. 4 crore (taxes included). Also if you are planning to get one, you’ll have to wait till 2019 as Lamborghini has already exhausted this year’s allotted batch for India.
