Land Rover has been working on their model line up for India, making small changes here and there to make sure they have the right products on offer. Now, they have introduced an all-new engine on their popular SUV, the Discovery Sport.
What is it about?
The new engine is from the Ingenium family, which has been developed keeping future emission norms in mind. These engines emit lesser CO2 emissions and have higher fuel efficiency, thus saving the planet and your wallet. The engine in question is the 2.0 liter 4-cylinder diesel unit which is on offer in two states of tune, a 148 Bhp and 382 Nm or a 177 Bhp and 430 Nm. This engine is mated to the same 9-speed automatic gearbox which the previous engine was mated to.
This engine replaces the older 2.2 liter unit which was on offer in the range. The older engine also came in two states of tune, the lower one making 148 Bhp and 400 Nm where as the higher one making 188 Bhp and 420 Nm.
In addition to this, the Discovery Sport also comes with a petrol engine option, a 2.0 liter unit which produces 237 Bhp and 340 Nm.
Any other changes?
No, this was only an engine update. The Discovery Sport continues to look the same and have the same features on offer like the one which the older engined vehicle had.
There are a total of 6 variants that are on offer on the Discovery, including the various states of tune and the various engine options. The base diesel (148 Bhp) can be had in 3 variants:
Pure: Rs 50.72 lakhs, SE: Rs 57 lakhs, HSE: Rs 60.86 lakhs.
The higher state of tune can be had in two trim levels, the HSE and the HSE Luxury trim which is priced at Rs 64.76 lakhs. Pricing for the HSE varaint was not revealed.
The petrol on the other hand is also on offer on only one trim level, the HSE which is priced at Rs 59.81 lakhs.
This competes against the GLC, the X3 and the Q5.
