Lexus, the luxury marquee from Toyota has finally entered the Indian market after a long wait. The company has introduced two products currently and will be launching their third product later in the year.
Let us start with the cheapest car they have brought, which is their mid-size sedan, the ES350h. The ES takes on the Mercedes E Class, BMW 5 Series, Audi A6, Volvo S90 and Jaguar XF. But what makes this a unique proposition is the fact that it is a hybrid, unlike the other cars in this segment.
Power comes from a 2.5 liter engine which is combined with an electric motor and churns out a total of 202 Bhp. This is the same powertrain you get on the Camry hybrid as well. The car is on offer in one variant only, which is priced at Rs 55.20 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi. In terms of features, the car has a Mark Levinson sound system, ambient lighting, ventilated seats, 10 airbags and park assist. What it does miss out on is the rear reclining seats that the Camry gets.
The RX is their mid-size SUV that takes on the GLC, Q5 and X3. However, this being a hybrid and CBU, is priced a lot higher than them. The RX comes in two variants, the Luxury, priced at Rs 1.07 crore and the F-Sport, priced at Rs 1.10 crore. The RX on the other hand is powered by a 3.5 liter V6 that works with an electric motor. Output is rated is 308 Bhp and the engine is mated to an e-CVT. Features include a 12.3″ infotainment system, coloured heads up display, panoramic roof, wireless charging, park assist and 10 airbags here as well.
The company also showcased their flagship SUV, the LX450d. The vehicle is based on Toyota’s LC200, but gets spruced up interiors. Power comes from the same 4.5 liter engine on the LC and it produces 272 Bhp. Pricing hasn’t been revealed but expect it to be upwards of Rs 2 crores.
