Mahindra Alturas G4 gets a MASSIVE Rs. 4 lakh discount: Much cheaper than Toyota Fortuner

Mahindra is now offering a hefty discount on the Alturas G4 luxury SUV to clear stock ahead of the Bharat Stage 6 (BS6) emission norms coming into place. The flagship Mahindra offering is now selling at a discount of Rs. 4 lakh. Prices of the Mahindra Alturas G4 start from Rs. 27.7 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi. The Toyota Fortuner’s prices start from Rs. 27.84 lakhs. The Alturas rubs shoulders with the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Isuzu MU-X in the luxury SUV market.

Meanwhile, Mahindra has announced this discount through its official website, which also notes that this offer will be valid only until the 31st of December. The BS6 norms will be introduced on 1st April 2020, from which every internal combustion engined vehicle in India have to adhere to these much stricter emission norms. The two major aims of the BS6 norms are to cut pollution and also improve fuel efficiency.

Mahindra introduced its first BS6 vehicle last week in the form of the XUV300 Petrol, whose 1.2 liter turbocharged petrol engine now meets the BS6 norms. In the coming week, the Indian utility vehicle giant is likely to stop production of the BS4 emission norms compliant cars and SUVs, and shift to BS6 models. Expect a slew of announcements about BS6 variants of existing Mahindra cars and SUVs in the coming weeks. The BS6 versions of Mahindra’s Diesel cars will be significantly pricier than BS4 models. Petrol engined cars will see a much smaller price hike though. The SUV sits on a body-on-ladder chassis, and is offered with rear wheel drive and four wheel drive options. It’s a 7 seater, and gets a long list of features that make it a well equipped luxury SUV. From 9 airbags to 360-degree camera, 8-way adjustable driver seat with memory function and dual-zone climate control system, the Alturas is loaded.
