Mahindra Alturas SUV’s off road ready avatar, rendered!

Mahindra Alturas G4 has been one of the most-awaited SUVs launched this year in the Indian market. Mahindra first officially unveiled the Alturas G4 at the 2018 Auto Expo in Delhi and since then the vehicle has been caught testing numerous times.

Mahindra finally announced the price of the Alturas G4 in the Indian market and it stands significantly affordable than the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. We have tested the Mahindra Alturas G4 on an off-road track and it is quite capable. We thought that an off-roader version of the vehicle would look extremely good and here’s the result!

The Alturas G4 looks extremely imposing on the roads. It gets vertically stacked chrome slats in the front huge headlamps. The off-road version retains both these elements but both of them have been altered to give a rugged look. The grille has been blacked-out with a matte finish. The Mahindra logo has been changed into red colour and the headlamps have been given red boundaries in the same red colour.

It also gets an aftermarket off-road spec bumper with an integrated winch. The bumper also gets integrated fog lamps in it. The bull bar looks intimidating and is integrated to the bumper itself. There is also a stone defector at the front which gives added muscles to the vehicle. The Alturas GR also gets an LED lamp mounted on the bullbar. There are extra lamps mounted on the roof of the vehicle. Such lamps can be of great help during night off-roading sessions.

The off-road version of the Mahindra Alturas G4 also gets off-road spec alloy wheels with red boundaries that go quite well with the red highlights in the front of the vehicle. The off-road spec tyres and the lift-kit changes the stance of the vehicle completely.

The lift kit and the new off-road-spec bumpers ensure that there is ample ground clearance and the Alturas can take on the terrains that require a higher ground clearance, approach angle and departure angle. There is a small and funky snorkel mounted on the driver-side of the vehicle. The snorkel increases the water-wading capacity of the vehicle and proves to be useful during river crossings.

The Mahindra Alturas G4 is a SsangYong Rexton G4 originally. It is already available in the international markets. Mahindra decided to bring the all-new Rexton under its own brand to ensure that there is enough brand recognition in the Indian market. There are only two options available with the Alturas G4 in the Indian market – 2WD and 4WD. The entry-level variant is priced at Rs. 26.95 lakhs while the 4WD version is priced at Rs. 29.95 lakhs.

It is powered by a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder, diesel engine that generates a maximum power of 178 Bhp – 240 Nm and gets paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission from Mercedes-Benz. The Alturas G4 gets a long list of features including a 9 airbag system, ABS+EBD, ESP, anti-rollover protection, 8-way power adjustable driver seat, sunroof, 8-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, HID headlamps, 360-degree parking camera, dual-zone automatic climate control and Nappa leather interiors.
