Mahindra customizes Bolero to give it an all-new “Attitude”

The photos you see here are of the Bolero Attitude concept, a customized version of the Bolero VLX, which Mahindra has just introduced. The two-door Attitude will be powered by the tried-and-tested CRDe engine that churns out a peak power of 97 hp. The Bolero Attitude will be offered to both new and existing customers wishing to modify their Boleros.

At Rs. 4.5 lakhs, the Mahindra Bolero Attitude doesn’t come cheap. And that is on top of the price you have already paid for the Bolero!

The price is not inclusive of the cost of the vehicle, taxes, transit costs, etc. Since there aren’t any technical changes to the vehicle, the warranty is not affected. Besides, Mahindra would offer an additional 6-months warranty for the customization undertaken. To view a photo gallery of the Bolero Attitude, scroll all the down to the end of this story. Exterior design

To start with, the new Bolero Attitude has only two doors instead of the five on the regular model. A brand-new bumper mounted with towing rings and an aggressive grille adorns the front (there’s a towing hook on the rear as well). The custom-made headlamp bezel has halogen projectors and xenon projector bulbs. Auxiliary lamps have been mounted on the triple-pipe rear roll cage made of stainless steel. A new bonnet scoop and snorkel help to keep the engine cool. Body claddings are equipped to protect the Bolero Attitude’s edges from damage while the B-pillar gets a restyled bezel. Wheel arches get the allen head studs. Alloy wheels, besides enhancing the aesthetic appeal, dissipate heat faster and are lighter than pressed steel wheels, thereby, serving a practical purpose. Motorized ORVMs and custom-made driver and co-driver door glass add to the vehicle’s uniqueness. Subtle modifications such as side guards with checkered inset step in depict the sporty character of Bolero Attitude.

A modified tail lamp with bezel will grab the attention of the tail gating vehicle instantly. The custom-built rear bumper and bumper-mounted lamps are also nice touches. The tail gate has a motorized antenna and jerry cans, in place of the ubiquitous spare wheel, for carrying fuel or water on road trips! The spare wheel, of course, now finds place in the rear cargo bay behind the driver. The body-mounted pick axe, spade and roof marker lamps are not only visually appealing, adding to the SUV’s rugged looks, they also allow for safe nighttime driving. Thoughtful touch: The rear auxiliary lamp turns on automatically upon engaging the reverse gear.

Mahindra has paid a lot of attention to details, as can be seen by the custom-painted brake caliper and stainless steel mesh inside grills and bezels. The twin exhausts add muscle while the rear number plate bezel is quite unique and attractive.

Matching the Bolero Attitude’s funky exteriors is the two-seat cabin with its sporty, dual-tone orange and dark grey dashboard. Even the gear knob gets orange inserts and the instrument cluster is in black and orange. The AC vents with chrome-finish rings lend an upmarket touch. The seats look familiar—it’s the same plush unit that’s on the Mahindra Xylo and offers better lumbar and thigh support. Here, too, the leather upholstery and door trims get the black-and-orange treatment. The iPod docking station is Harmenn Karden and an MP3 player with Bluetooth entertains you on the move.

All the interior trims have black inner linings. The floor mats are custom made and the carpets are all black to match the rest of the interior. The moulded pillar claddings, puddle lamps along with reading lamps and roof lamps illumine the cabin completely. The moulded sun visors with illuminated vanity mirror are another thoughtful inclusion. Both the ORVMs and sunroof are motorized, activated by a one-touch operation.
