Mahindra has lately been offering interesting products to its customers in India. It started with the new generation Thar and then the XUV700 last year. In both these products that played a crucial role in their success was the price. They were launched at a very attractive introductory prices and later, the manufacturer increased the price of these products. Mahindra has once again increased the price of their popular SUVs, Thar and XUV700. This is the third time, the prices have been revised for these SUVs this year. The price of the SUVs have gone up by up to Rs 37,000.
Earlier this year, Mahindra had silently reduced the prices of some of the varaints of XUV700 by Rs 6,000. Weeks after reducing the price, the manufacturer has now increased the prices for the XUV700 between Rs 22,000 to Rs 35,000 for the petrol variants and Rs 22,000 to Rs 37,000 for the diesel variants. After the revision, Mahindra XUV700’s price now starts at Rs 13.45 lakh, ex-showroom. Mahindra XUV700 is one of the most feature loaded and technologically advanced SUV from Mahindra stable. It is currently the only car from the manufacturer to offer features like Adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning and many more ADAS features. The SUV has been an instant hit in the market. XUV700 comes with both petrol and diesel engine options. Both the engines are available with manual and automatic transmission options. The top-end diesel variant also gets AWD as an optional feature.
The waiting period on the XUV700 is very long. Depending on the variant you choose, the waiting period differs. For example, if you are opting for the top-end AX7 L petrol or diesel, it has a waiting period of almost 16 months. The regular AX7 has a waiting period of 15 months and the base and mid-spec variants have a waiting period of almost 10 months. The petrol MX, AX3 and AX5 variants only have a waiting period of 2-3 months.

Coming to Mahindra Thar, this is also a popular SUV among buyers. Even after two years after the launch, the popularity for Thar has not come down. The price for the petrol variants of Mahindra Thar have been increased between Rs 6,000 to Rs 7,000. The diesel variants on the other hand have seen a price increase between Rs 26,000 to Rs 28,000. Mahindra Thar comes with 4×4 as a standard feature in both the engine option. Price for Mahindra Thar after the revision starts at Rs 13.59 lakh. Waiting period for Mahindra Thar have come down when compared to XUV700. On an average, the 2 door off-road SUV now has a waiting period anywhere between 3 to 8 months.
A similar fate awaits the newly launched Scorpio N SUV as well. There are reports that suggest that the waiting period for Mahindra Scorpio N has already crossed 2 years. The deliveries for the Scorpio N would start from next week. Just like othe Mahindra SUV, Scorpio N also comes with petrol and diesel engine option and diesel variants come with 4×4 feature as well.
