Mahindra has, in an official announcement, mentioned that the recently launched KUV100 (launched on January 15) has garnered about 21,000 bookings, in a month’s time. A total 1.75 lakh enquiries were made while the vehicle’s official website had more than 2.7 million views.
To recapitulate, the micro crossover KUV100 is the smallest of its kind in Mahindra’s line-up, is an alternative to the regular hatchbacks, and doesn’t cost a lot, either. Prices start at Rs 4.45 lakh, ex-showroom, and it’s decently specced, too – considering the base version gets ABS as standard while the top one even gets a Micro-Hybrid start-stop system.

Engine options include 1.2-liter petrol and diesel engines, both of which are three-cylinder units, developed by Mahindra. In terms of seating, both five- and six-seat options are available.
The company adds that almost half of the bookings made for the vehicle are for the petrol variant, which is a great thing, considering it’s petrol-powered Mahindra after a long time. And so big is the demand that the booking period is said to have reached about three months for certain variants in some cities. Mahindra, in response, is planning to increase the production of the vehicle from the current 5,500 units every month.
