Mahindra and Mahindra’s new MD and CEO – Anish Shah took charge of the manufacturer recently and has already announced that the brand will focus on its legacy and heritage. With the popularity of the all-new Mahindra Thar rising through the roof, the brand will purely focus on launching true-blue SUVs that adds to the brand’s heritage. Mahindra will launch a slew of all-new SUVs in the coming months. Here are the seven vehicles planned by Mahindra and Mahindra.
Mahindra recently announced that it will name the upcoming SUV the XUV700. The brand has been testing a full-size SUV for a long time now and as per rumours, it was the all-new XUV500. However, Mahindra officially announced that the upcoming vehicle will carry the name XUV700 and it will be positioned above the current XUV500. It is not clear if the current XUV500 will continue to sell in the market but Mahindra will discontinue the vehicle once the XUV700 launches in the market.
The all-new XUV700 will essentially replace the Alturas from the model line-up of the brand. It will take on the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and the MG Gloster. The price is likely to be around Rs 20 lakh plus for the entry-level variant of the car.
Mahindra Bolero Neo
Mahindra will utilise the extremely popular Bolero moniker on the not-so-popular TUV300’s update. Mahindra is yet to launch the updated BS6 compliant TUV300 in the market. However, the brand is currently testing the vehicle in various conditions. The new updated TUV300 will be known as the Bolero Neo. It will come with a few visual changes but overall, the vehicle will remain identical to the regular Bolero Neo. It will likely get the same 1.5-litre twin-scroll turbocharged diesel engine that powered the TUV300.
Mahindra Scorpio Sting
Mahindra has been testing the all-new Scorpio for a long time too. Now Mahindra has registered a few names for its upcoming vehicles including Scorpio Sting. Even though Mahindra is yet to announce the name of the vehicle officially, there are chances that it will get the Scorpio Sting name. Mahindra will use the new generation engines, which are the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and 2.2-litre diesel to power the Scorpio. While we are not sure, Mahindra may not offer 4X4 with the upcoming Scorpio Sting.
Mahindra TUV300 Plus
Mahindra has been working on the MPV version of the TUV300 for a long time now. The TUV300 will get the same engine options and visual updates as the Bolero Neo. However, Mahindra may launch it with the 2.2-litre diesel engine too. It will offer a three-row seating option.
Mahindra XUV300 Sportz
Mahindra XUV300 is already a sporty vehicle and is quite powerful too. Well, Mahindra wants to offer more to the customers. At the 2020 Auto Expo, Mahindra showcased the XUV300 Sportz, which is a much more powerful version of the standard XUV300.. Mahindra plans to launch the same in the market. The high-performance XUV300 Sportz gets the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 130 PS and peak torque of 230 Nm.
Mahindra XUV300 EV
Mahindra was one of the first manufacturers to launch electric vehicles in India. The brand also plans to launch the XUV300 EV in the market that will look similar to the regular XUV300 but will have a different grille and different highlights all over. No details of the upcoming EV are out yet.
The eKUV100 will be the younger brother to the XUV300 EV. It was also showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 and it will launch in 2021. It will be powered by a 15.9 kWh battery pack. The battery pack will be able to produce 54.5 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 230 Nm. You would be able to fully charge the small SUV in just 6 hours.
