Mahindra has launched two new variants of the XUV700. The new variants are AX7 Luxury Diesel MT priced at Rs. 19.99 lakhs ex-showroom and AX7 Luxury Diesel AT+AWD priced at Rs. 22.89 lakhs ex-showroom. The variants are launched by taking customer feedback as people wanted the features of the Luxury Pack with the all-wheel-drive powertrain.
It is a good thing that Mahindra is listening to their customers. When the XUV700 was launched the Luxury Pack was not offered with the all-wheel-drive powertrain. You could only get either one of them. Well, now it is possible, to get them both together. The XUV700’s booking starts from October 7th.

As of now, the Luxury Pack is only offered with the AX7 variant of the XUV700. It adds a 3D Sony Sound System with roof-mounted speakers which are expected to be the best in the class, you also get Blind View Monitoring, a 360-degree camera, motorized pop-up door handles and Adaptive Cruise Control for automatic transmission.
Moreover, you also get a knee airbag, wireless charger, an electronic parking brake, vanity mirror illumination and telescopic adjustment for the steering. Before this, the Luxury Pack was only offered with the automatic transmission, but now you can also get it with the manual gearbox of the diesel engine.
All-wheel drive powertrain
The XUV700 is the only SUV in the segment to be offered with an all-wheel-drive powertrain. It can be useful in muddy or snowy situations. It is important to note that it is not a full-blown 4×4 system like we have seen on the Mahindra Thar. Now, you would be able to get the AX7 Luxury Pack with the all-wheel-drive powertrain which was not possible earlier.
Engine and gearbox
The XUV700 is offered with a turbocharged petrol engine and a diesel engine. Both the engines produce class-leading figures in the segments. The 2.0-litre petrol engine puts out 200 PS of max power and 380 Nm of peak torque. It is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Then there is the 2.2-litre diesel engine. It is offered in two states of tune. The lower state of tune produces 155 PS of max power and 360 Nm of peak torque. This tune is available only with the base variant and comes mated to only a 6-speed manual gearbox. In the higher state, the engine puts out 185 PS of max power and 420 Nm of peak torque when mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The torque output is bumped up to 450 Nm if you get the 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The all-wheel-drive powertrain is also offered only with the diesel engine with an automatic gearbox.
