Many Mahindra dealers across India are now unofficially accepting bookings for the Marazzo MPV, which is scheduled for launch on the 3rd of September, 2018. The price announcement will happen on the day of the launch. The booking amount is pegged at Rs. 10,000. The Marazzo will be Mahindra’s first monocoque MPV and will have seating capacities of 7 to 8 passengers depending on the variants chosen. Developed jointly by Mahindra teams in North America and India, the Marazzo MPV will be a global product. After making its India debut this year, the MPV is likely to be introduced in many other countries around the world next year.
The Mahindra Marazzo MPV will be positioned between the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Toyota Innova Crysta in terms of pricing. Expect to see a starting price of under Rs. 10 lakhs. The Marazzo will have the largest footprint of a Mahindra passenger car and is expected to be retailed through the ‘Prime’ premium section of Mahindra dealerships. The car will be launched as a diesel-only model initially, and will be powered by a brand new 1.6-litre turbocharged diesel engine outputting about 120 Bhp-300 Nm. This engine will be geared up to meet Bharat Stage 6 emission norms, and will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox. A petrol engine could join the MPV’s variant line-up later.
While most variants of the Mahindra Marazzo sold in India will be front-wheel driven, the MPV will be capable of supporting an all-wheel drive option. It remains to be seen if Mahindra introduces the all-wheel drive variants of the Marazzo in India. Top-end variants of the Mahindra Marazzo MPV will be feature rich. From a premium dashboard to leather seats and roof mounted AC vents for all passengers, the interiors of the Mahindra Marazzo promise to be luxurious. The MPV will pack in a touchscreen infotainment system that comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity options. Automatic wipers, automatic LED projector headlamps and automatic climate control are expected.
