Mahindra Automotive is slowly making bold moves to make an impression on Australian customers and expand its global reach. The company has been promoting its SUVs over the last few months with the help of Australian automotive reviewers. Recently, the company invited a number of Australian journalists to its Research facility in Tamil Nadu and let these journalists torture-test its Scorpio-N and other prominent SUVs. Now, a video showing the extreme on-road and off-road test of the Scorpio-N has been shared online.

This video of the Mahindra Scorpio-N going through a tough torture test has been shared on YouTube by Carsales.com.au on their channel. It starts off with the presenter mentioning that Mahindra Automotive has invited a number of journalists from Australia to have a look at their Mahindra Research Valley in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu. This facility spans across 450 acres of land and has been equipped with the most cutting-edge technology to test Mahindra SUVs to their extremes.

She mentions that the facility has robots that test the door opening and closing of cars like Mahindra XUV for more than 100,000 times. There is also an entire dashboard of a Mahindra Thar five-door which has been set on a jig that is testing its durability by continuous shaking. She also shows the Mahindra SUV Proving Track which consists of 43-degree banked roads, long straight stretches, dedicated off-road courses like cobblestone roads, staircases, deep trenches, and a number of others. The presenter states that they had a tour of 8 hours and there was still a lot more to see.

Following this, the presenter mentions that they will be test driving the Mahindra SUVs on various different tracks to check their capabilities. For this, she starts off with the XUV700 on the race track and then jumps into a Scorpio-N. She first drives the Scorpio-N through an off-road course designed with deep trenches in an alternating pattern. This test highlights the differential locking capabilities of the car and also highlights its stability. Next up, she takes the car through a water crossing.

Finally, the presenter takes the Scorpio-N through a very harsh off-road course which the company has named the axle twister. In this course, there are alternating cement blocks that twist the axle of the cars to the extreme. This has been made to highlight the durability of the axles of Mahindra SUVs. Following this, she drives the Scorpio-N through a number of different off-road courses to test the SUV’s extreme off-road capabilities.

Although the Mahindra Scorpio-N comes as a rear-wheel-drive vehicle, it also offers a dedicated 4X4 system, and there are numerous variants that are available with it. The Mahindra Scorpio-N’s off-road system is called the 4Xplor, and the new system includes a low range as well as terrain modes for the first time. These include normal, grass, gravel, snow, mud/ruts, and sand. The pricing of the Mahindra Scorpio-N 4X4 starts at Rs 18 lakh and goes up to Rs 24.53 lakh.
