Mahindra Scorpio-N falls into a pond: Thar 4X4 to the rescue [Video]

With the tagline of “Big Daddy Of SUVs”, the all-new Mahindra Scorpio-N sure has gathered a lot of attention in the Indian market. Mahindra started delivering the all-new Scorpio-N a few weeks ago and it is quickly becoming a common sight on the roads. Well, the owners of Mahindra Scorpio-N are definitely testing it all out and taking it to some extreme places. This owner of Mahindra Scorpio-N took it over a pond and got royally stuck.

The video is made by the owner of Mahindra Thar, who got a call for help from the Scorpio-N’s owner. The Mahindra Scorpio-N can be spotted stuck on the edge of the pond. The small pond has vertical walls and an almost 90-degree drop. We are not sure what the owner of the Mahindra Scorpio-N was trying to do and how the vehicle got stuck in this situation.

Any person who has minimum driving experience would have known that any car would get stuck in this situation. The Mahindra Thar had an electric winch, which was used to recover the Scorpio-N.

After fixing the winch to the rear tow hook of the Mahindra Scorpio-N, the owner started to slowly pull it back. Since the vehicle was resting on the floor, it was a difficult recovery. However, since the vehicle was stuck, it scratched all along. During the recovery, the vehicle’s front bumper was damaged and the registration plate also came out.

This was a 4X2 Scorpio-N but it would not have mattered if it was a 4X4 too. Any kind of civilian vehicle in stock condition would have gotten stuck into a similar situation.

No winch damper used

The video shows people casually around the Scorpio-N and staying close to the towing rope. However, there is no dampening on the rope. If the rope snaps during the towing or winching, it can whiplash and cause major injuries to anyone in proximity. That is why dampening is always used by experts and professionals while rescuing a vehicle or towing a car.

If you do not have dampening material available, any object with decent weight like a wet sack, a winter jacket or even shoes hanging by strings can become good options. These dampening materials can absorb most of the whiplash impact and make the towing rope less harmful.

It is highly important to not to go at such off-roading places without being equipped or having a recovery vehicle. Getting stuck at such places is common and help can take a long time to reach such secluded places. Having a recovery vehicle helps in many ways. During the situations where one car is stuck badly and the other vehicle cannot help in the recovery, it can always go to the nearest town to get help.

Off-roading can be fun with the right tools, knowledge and experience in place. If one gets stuck without the right knowledge or the tools to save the vehicle, things may turn out quite badly.
