Mahindra is currently one of the most popular SUV manufacturer in India. Last year, they launched the all-new Scorpio N in the market and this SUV also became an instant hit in the market. Like XUV700 and Mahindra Thar, Scorpio N also has a long waiting period on it. Mahindra not only sells these SUVs in India but, they also export these SUVs to international markets. We have lately seen couple of review videos from international journalists. Here we have a video where a foreign car reviewer shares his thoughts about the new Mahindra Scorpio N 4×4.
The video has been uploaded by CarSauce on their YouTube channel. In this video, the reviewer talks about the price where Mahindra has placed this SUV. He mentions that it is actually offered at half the price of a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. He thinks that Mahindra has priced the SUV very competitively in the market. He starts by talking about the exterior design. He really liked the boxy and muscular looking design. He however mentions that the ADAS features are missing in the Scoprio N. Mahindra is likely to introduce ADAS features with the facelift in future.
The Scorpio N is wide and tall enough however, it is not as long as some of its rivals. He talks about the LED headlamps, fog lamps, DRLs, sequential turn indicators and so on. The variant seen here in the top-end Z8 L which offers all the features. The reviewer then opens the tailgate to check the boot space. This is where he was dissapointed. He felt that Mahindra could have managed the space in a better manner. with all seats up, it only has space for couple of small backpacks. Even when you fold the rear seat down, it creates huge hump on the floor.
He was not satisfied with the way Mahindra decided to design the seats. He then enters the cabin and was impressed with the leatherette black and brown upholstery. The perforated seats, soft touch material on the dashboard, automatic climate control, sunroof and the touchscreen infotainment screen were all impressive. The reviewer however did not like the fact that Scorpio N does not offer many storage compartments. The infotainment also misses on the Apple CarPlay. He then sits in the second row seat really liked the spacious captain seats.
When it comes to driving, reviewer was completely happy with the way the Scorpio N was performing on the road. For a ladder on frame SUV, Scorpio N was handling curves with less body roll and also felt planted. The suspension set up on the Scorpio N also felt impressive and the 2.2 litre turbocharged diesel engine mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox had enough punch. He does not drive the car off-road however, he can be heard saying that if you are looking for a 4×4 SUV and are not ready to spend a lot, then Scorpio N could be a good choice. He really liked the looks and the way it drives. He calls it a value for money product.
