Mahindra Scorpio-N production and delivery details revealed

The all-new Mahindra Scorpio-N is a big step up from the older version, some of whose variants will continue to be on sale as the Scorpio Classic. The new Scorpio-N doesn’t just get completely revamped looks but also a totally different, body-on-ladder chassis, a completely new suspension, new features and even new engines. The new SUV is a totally new car, inside-out, and this is probably why Mahindra is pricing it at a premium and hoping to pull off a 30 lakh rupee on-road price tag for the SUV’s top-end variants.

The Scorpio-N is offered with turbocharged petrol and diesel engines. The petrol motor is a 2 liter-4 cylinder unit good for 197 Bhp-380 Nm (370 Nm in the manual trim) while the diesel is a 2.2 liter-4 cylinder unit available in multiple states of tune: 130 Bhp-300 Nm for the base trim and 172 Bhp-370 Nm for higher manual trims. The top-of-the-line diesel automatic trims make 172 Bhp-400 Nm. While both engines get 6 speed manual and torque converter automatic gearbox options, only the diesel gets a four wheel drive system as an option on specific trims. The rest of the Scorpio-N variants – including those powered by the petrol engine – are rear wheel driven.
