Mahindra Scorpio-N steering rack changed weeks after delivery: Owner pleased with the service [Video]

The all-new Mahindra Scorpio-N is making all kinds of headlines in the Indian market. Mahindra has started delivering the all-new Scorpio-N in the Indian market but a few customers have already complained about the quality issues of the car. This owner of the brand-new Mahindra Scorpio-N 4X4 has got his steering rack changed. Here is what happened.

The owner Arun Pawar got the delivery of his Mahindra Scorpio-N recently. However, he complained about the tight steering wheel. After driving several other Mahindra Scorpio-N SUVs, Arun Pawar concluded that the steering wheel of his new Mahindra Scorpio-N is not smooth and he has to struggle a lot to manoeuvre the vehicle.

After registering a complaint with the Mahindra service centre, they took quick action. Since the owner intimidated the service centre that he needs to leave for a road trip, they sent a person to pick up the Scorpio-N. The dealership also arranged for the spare parts from a different location.

The service centre replaced the steering column of the new Scorpio-N. However, since it was replaced under warranty, the Mahindra service centre did not allow the owner to get any pictures of the same. The service centre then returned the car to the owner’s residence at about 9 PM. The whole job only took a few hours.

While appreciating the job done by the Mahindra service centre, the owner also talked about his Kia Seltos and how the service centre of Kia is not listening and solving a problem on his Seltos.

Several Mahindra Scorpio-N complaints

At least two people have complained about the clutch of the Mahindra Scorpio-N. Two owners are facing the problem of the clutch sink-in. The clutch pedal of the Mahindra Scorpio-N stopped working only after a few days of driving.

It is most likely to be a hydraulic pressure issue. The slave cylinder of the clutch could have leaked and lost pressure. Since the clutch is not fully engaged, the gear is stuck as well. However, it could be some other problem too.

Mahindra’s recent recalls

The last month has been busy for Mahindra with recalls. The company first announced the recall of the Mahindra XUV700, Thar and XUV300.

Mahindra has done a massive recall for the XUV700 diesel manual and automatic variants and Thar diesel variants recently. The brand has also recalled the XUV700’s petrol variants.

The XUV700 and Thar diesel variants will get a new turbocharger actuator linkage. The petrol XUV700 will be inspected for the T-Block connector installations on the Gas Vent Pipes and canister. The brand has not given out information on the affected number of units yet. However, it is likely to be large in number, given the high demand for both vehicles in the market.

This is the fourth recall for Mahindra XUV700. Earlier, Mahindra issued a critical recall alert for the XUV700 to fix the alternator belt and auto-tensioner pulley. The last recall also addressed the Electronic Steering Column Lock or ESCL.

The other two recalls were for the all-wheel drive variants of the XUV700. Mahindra checked the prop shaft and replaced the part, if necessary. This comes after Mahindra engineers said that they got extra time for testing due to the COVID-19 lockdowns and were able to fix numerous issues.
