Mahindra Scorpio N VS Mahindra Thar Drag Race: Vehicle Details and Results
In the drag race, the first vehicle is a brand new Mahindra Scorpio N diesel manual Z8 L 4X4. It competes against the Mahindra Thar diesel automatic. Talking about power figures, the Thar uses a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine churning out 130 bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. On the other hand, powering the Mahindra Scorpio N is a 2.2-litre mHawk Turbo Diesel engine belting out 175 bhp and 370 Nm of peak torque. Power is channelled to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. Both the vehicles in this drag race use the same 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine, however, are poles apart in terms of tuning and power delivery.

Mahindra Scorpio N VS Mahindra Thar Drag Race: Verdict
Sporting a similar kerb weight, ladder frame chassis, powertrain, body types and 4X4 capabilities, both the SUVs are quite identical in terms of several aspects. However, the major differentiating factor is the power and torque factors. The higher 175 bhp of power and 370 Nm of peak torque of Mahindra Scorpio N serve as a clear advantage as compared to the lower 130 bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque in the Thar. So this higher power output translates into better performance on road and becomes the main deciding factor in Scorpio N’s victory. Another important point to note is that, despite coming from the same manufacturer and price segment, both SUVs are miles apart in terms of functionality. The Mahindra Thar is a lifestyle vehicle while the Scorpio N is a capable 7-seater SUV inclined towards luxury as well as practicality.
