Mahindra Scorpio N vs Thar 4×4 SUV: Who’ll win in a drag race [Video]

Mahindra is one of the popular SUVs manufacturer in the country and they have a variety of SUVs in their portfolio. Mahindra Thar is currently the most affordable 4×4 SUV offered in the market and it has a large fan base as well. Earlier this year, Mahindra launched the all-new Scorpio N in India and just like other Mahindra products, Scorpio N also received an overwhelming response. Since its launch, we have been seeing several interesting videos of Scorpio N on the internet. We have featured some of them on our website too. Here we have another video where a Scorpio N and Mahindra 4×4 SUV are seen competing against each other in a drag race.

The video has been uploaded by Arun Panwar on their YouTube channel. In this video, vlogger takes his Scorpio N and Mahindra Thar SUV to a highway that is closed for construction. This was done in order to avoid any accidents as there will be no traffic on the closed road. Vlogger starts by talking about the engine specifications of both the SUVs. He mentions that both the SUVs are powered by a diesel engine. Both SUVs use the same engine but they are tuned differently. Mahindra Thar’s 2.2 litre mHawk turbocharged diesel engine generates 130 Bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. The same engine generates 172 Bhp and 370 Nm of peak torque in the Scorpio N.

Both SUVs seen here are the 4×4 variants. The only difference is the gearbox. Thar gets an automatic transmission while the Scorpio N seen here comes with a 6-speed manual. On paper, Scorpio N was looking powerful but, the owner mentions that in a tug of war competition, Thar had won despite being less powerful. The race was conducted in multiple rounds. For the first round, vlogger was driving the Scorpio N and his friend was in the Thar. Both of them prepare for the race by switching off the traction control and AC.

The race starts and immediately, Mahindra Scorpio N is in the lead. Thar is right behind Scorpio N but, it did not overtake the lead car at any point. Mahindra Scorpio N maintained the lead throughout the round. For the second round, the vehicle settings and drivers remained the same. The race started and just like the first round, Scorpio N took the lead. The vlogger even tried giving Thar an advantage by not shifting gears and accelerating very aggressively. Thar did take the lead for few seconds but, the moment, Scorpio N accelerated, it took the lead back.

For the third round, drivers switched the vehicles. The vlogger was now in Thar and his friend in the Scorpio N. The race started and his friend messed up the launch in the Scorpio N. This gave Thar an advantage and it took the lead immediately. The car maintained the lead for some distance but, towards the end of the track, Scorpio caught speed and won the round. In the last round, vlogger missed one of the gears in Scorpio N and that meant Thar won the last round. Scorpio N was announced as the winner of the race.
