Mahindra Scorpio has achieved a new milestone by registering sales of 50,844 units, the highest ever annual sales during the 2011 – 2012 financial year. Overall, the Scorpio has registered a growth of 17%.

He added that this achievement reaffirms the brand’s popularity and confidence that consumers have reposed in the brand. Mahindra Scorpio is one of the key volume drivers for the company. The Scorpio sells at a consistent 4,000 units every month despite the launch of several new SUVs in the price range of Rs. 10 lakh – 15 lakh, such as the Skoda Yeti, Tata Aria and its very own sibling the Mahindra XUV500. That speaks a lot about the trust people have on this iconic SUV.
The Scorpio is powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk engine that puts out 120 Bhp of power and 290 Nm of torque and returns an ARAI-mileage of 12.05 kmpl. The Scorpio is known for its refined engine and pretty good performance that offers sufficient torque for city runabouts. On highways too, the Scorpio offers decent cruising ability.
The Scorpio is offered in six variants namely, Getaway, EX, LX, SLE, VLX and VLX automatic. The top-end variant of the Scorpio gets features such as micro hybrid technology, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Intelli-park, rain & light sensors, 2-DIN audio system with Bluetooth, CD/MP3 player, USB & SD Card slots, cruise control and audio control on steering wheel, alloy Wheels and optional 4WD and optional airbags. The Scorpio is priced in the range of Rs. 7.79 lakh – Rs. 12.63 lakh and takes on the Tata Safari, Tata Aria, Mahindra XUV500 and the Skoda Yeti. The SUV seems to be still going strong and it will help Mahindra grow as a brand for years to come.
