Mahindra Scorpio SUV Facelift with 140 Bhp confirmed through ARAI document

Mahindra will launch a facelifted Scorpio SUV this month. It will have a much more powerful engine, and this has been confirmed through an ARAI homologation document. The diesel engine will be the 2.2 liter mHawk version but with the state of tune that the XUV500 gets. This means that the refreshed Scorpio will now output 140 Bhp and 330 Nm.

These figures are a big increase over the current Scorpio’s maximum power and torque ratings of 120 Bhp and 280 Nm. The additional power and torque should increase acceleration and make the SUV peppier to drive. Top speed many not increase if there is no change to the gearing. The same 5 speed manual gearbox may be carried over to the facelifted version. A new S7 variant will also be added.

Mahindra may offer a 6 speed automatic gearbox from AISIN in the facelifted Scorpio but this has not yet been confirmed. A new spyshots has also leaked, and this shows that the facelifted model will get a new blacked out front grille and the bumper will get a new design. The alloy wheels will also get a new design. More features will be added to the vehicle. The interiors will get a new touchscreen infotainment console with the EcoSense App, and revised seat fabric.

The Scorpio’s facelifted model will carry on with another engine, for the low cost S2 variant. The 2.5 liter M2DICR turbocharged diesel engine with 75 Bhp and 180 Nm will be the other engine offered on this SUV. This engine is borrowed from the Bolero and is available only on the S2 version. This engine is available only with a rear wheel drive layout.

The mHawk engine also gets a four wheel drive option with a shift-on-the-fly feature. ABS and Airbags will be offered on all variants of the Scorpio Facelift except the low cost S2. Bookings for the new version will begin soon, along with customer deliveries in November itself.
