Mahindra Thar recently started the delivery of their recently launched Thar 4×2 variant. The SUV has already reached dealerships and we are slowly starting to see videos of people taking deliveries of the same. Here we have a video where a customer is seen taking delivery of first Mahindra Thar 4×2 SUV in Haryana’s Faridabad. Mahindra Thar 4×2 was launched in the market last month. The price for the 2WD variant starts at Rs 9.99 lakh, ex-showroom.

The video has been shared by Riding with Peace on their YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger comes to a dealership in Haryana’s Faridabad. He was invited by his friend who was taking delivery of the first Thar 4×2 in Faridabad. The vlogger first shows a 4×4 Thar which was parked inside the dealership. After this, he spoke to his friend and came to know that two of his other friends are also taking delivery of the Thar 4×2 on the same day.

Once the paperwork was done, the keys were handed over to the owner and the car was parked outside. The SUV was covered in a cloth and it was unveiled only after the owner came. The keys were handed over to the owner and a small celebration was carried out by the dealership. The owner then drives the car out of the dealership and the vlogger is seen sitting next to him on the co-passenger side. Just like the 4×4 variant, waiting period for the RWD variant of Mahindra Thar have also gone up. The waiting period for petrol Thar 4×2 is up to 3 months while the diesel versions have a waiting period as long as 18 months.

Mahindra Thar 4×2 looks exactly the same as the 4×4 variant. The headlamps, LED DRLs, fog lamps, tail lamps are all the same. It is available in AX(O) and LX trims. On the inside, the SUV still offers a multi-function steering wheel, cruise control, touchscreen infotainment system, roof-mounted speakers and so on. The only difference is the missing 4×4 lever. This space has been converted into a storage compartment for small things. Just like the regular Thar, the 4×2 variant is also available with both petrol and diesel engine options. The SUV is powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine that generates 150 Ps and 320 Nm of peak torque. This is the same engine we see on the 4×4 variant.

However, when it comes to diesel engine, Mahindra has offered a smaller 1.5 litre turbocharged diesel engine that generates 118 Ps and 300 Nm of peak torque. This is the same engine that we have seen with the XUV300. The petrol version of the Thar 4×2 is available with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The diesel version of the other hand has a 6-speed manual gearbox only. With the introduction of Mahindra Thar 4×2, the popularity of Thar has gone up even more and the waiting period on the 4×4 variant has also come down. The waiting period on 4×4 variant has come down by 3-4 weeks.
