Mahindra has launched the Thar 4×4 CRDe SUV, with new standard features such as an AC and engine immobilizer and is priced at Rs. 6.86 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The new Thar is Rs. 87,000 more than the outgoing variant (without AC and engine immobilizer).
What’s new?
The Thar was earlier offered only as open-top SUV and AC and hard top were made available only as accessories. But now, the company offers AC and engine immobilizer as standard making the Thar, a more practical SUV. Apart from this, there are no differences between the old Thar and the new Thar.
Variants and Prices
The Thar is offered in three variants, CRDe, Di 2WD and Di 4WD. The Thar CRDe 4×4 is powered by a 2.5 litre CRDe engine that generates 105 bhp and torque of 247 Nm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission, with a 2-speed four-wheel transfer case (Ratios – High 1.0:1 and Low 2.48:1) and features a Borg Warner manual shift for 4×4.
The Thar Di version is powered by a 2,523 cc diesel engine that puts out 63 bhp of power and 182.5 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and features an optional Borg Warner manual shift for 4×4. Also see our Mahindra Thar off-road test.

Features
The Thar comes with minimal features such as the newly included standard AC and engine immobilizer. The Thar features two front-facing bucket seats and two side facing bench seats. Mahindra offers many accessories to customize the Thar and give it a sporty look.
