Mahindra Thar is a popular 4×4 SUV in the Indian market. It also happens to be the most affordable 4×4 SUV one can buy in India. It became popular among buyers in a short span of time. The demand for Mahindra Thar is currently s high that there is a waiting period of almost an year on it. Mahindra Thar is a capable off-roader and there are several modification options available for this SUV in the market. We have seen several modifications in Mahindra Thar so far but, here we have a video where a 360 degree camera is integrated with the stock touchscreen infotainment system.
The video has been uploaded by CAR SONICS CAR ACCESSORIES HYDERABAD on their YouTube channel. They have successfully installed the 360 degree camera in a Mahindra Thar. In this video, vlogger shows how the owner of this car had installed a reverse camera from the dealership. Mahindra does not offer a reverse parking camera with Thar from factory. Customers who want this feature can get it installed from the dealership as an accessory.

The video shows how the reverse parking camera view was when it arrived at the dealership. Then he takes the car to an open parking spot to show the the feed comes up on the screen after installing the 360 degree camera. Before showing the screen, vlogger shows how where all the cameras have been installed. The front camera was neatly installed on the front grille and two other cameras were installed under the ORVMs. Another camera was installed right above the registration plate without poking any hole into the bumper. The older reverse parking camera that the car came with can be seen above it.
Vlogger then gets in and shows how the 360 degree camera actually works. This is the first a 360 degree camera has been integrated with the stock touchscreen infotainment system of Thar. The vlogger engages the reverse gear and the screen gets a 60:40 split. 40 percent of the screen shows the 360 view while rest of the screen shows feed from the rear camera. The image or feed from the 360 degree camera was looking distorted as it was not properly calibrated.
After proper calibration, the camera was showing a proper bird’s eye view of the SUV. The camera also acts as blind spot monitoring system. When the vlogger engages the left turn indicator, the left camera shows the view and same happens when the right side turn indicator is engaged. Vlogger mentions that in order to install this particular 360 degree camera system, no wires were cut. This was all installed using a coupler which means the warranty of the car is not affected.
