The all-new Mahindra Thar has undeniably become one of the most desirable cars in the market. The 2020 all-new Thar has one of the longest waiting periods in the country. Well, unlike typical off-roading cars, the Mahindra Thar has been crash-tested by Global NCAP and it has become the first made-in-India off-road spec car to receive a four-star safety rating. How does the safety rating work during the accidents? Well, here is an accident that shows Mahindra Thar involved in a high-speed crash.
According to the video shared by Nikhil Rana, the high-speed crash on the Lucknow Expressway in the early morning. The information shared in the video says that the Mahindra Thar was travelling at a high speed on the Lucknow Expressway.

The passengers were travelling from Delhi and at about 5 am in the morning, the car crashed in the rear of the truck. According to the information, the truck suddenly slowed down, which caused the accident. The pictures of the Thar shows extreme damages to the front-end. The high-speed accident caused the Thar to crumple completely.
Passengers come out alive
The details shared in the video says that both the airbags worked perfectly during the accident ensuring that the safety of the occupants. There were two people travelling in the vehicle and both have received minor injuries. One of the occupants received six stitches on the forehead. There are no other injuries and the owner of the vehicle said that he is very happy with the safety and quality of the Mahindra Thar.
Mahindra Thar 4-star rating
The all-new Thar scored four stars during the crash test by Global NCAP. It has the highest safety rating in the segment. The all-new Thar is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 150 Bhp and a peak torque of 320 Nm. The 2.2-litre diesel engines offer a maximum of 130 PS and a peak torque of 320 Nm. Both the engine options are available with a manual as well as an automatic transmission option.
Reeling from the shortage of chipsets, the Mahindra Thar is currently on a long waiting period that can extend to 12 months depending on the location and the variant.
The SUV is available with three rooftop options. There is a hardtop, a soft rooftop and a convertible soft top. The cabin also gets a slew of new additions like front-facing rear seats, a touchscreen infotainment system, ABS, airbags, and two airbags, cruise control, traction control, VSM and more. Mahindra Thar is the first off-road vehicle in India that has scored a 4-star safety rating.
Mahindra offers both petrol and diesel engine options with the all-new Thar. In fact, both the engine options also get a 6-speed automatic transmission too. All the variants of the Mahindra Thar get a 4X4 system.
