Off-roading is adventure filled activity where SUV owners take their vehicles through surface which cannot be accessed using a normal car. In India, we have several SUV owners group that organise such off-road trips. These groups normally consist of an experienced off-road expert as this is an activity which involves a lot of risk. We have seen several off-road video online. Mahindra Thar is one of the most affordable 4×4 SUV available in the market. Here we have a video where old and new generation Mahindra Thar, older generation Toyota Fortuner and a Mitsubishi Pajero SFX SUV are seen doing extreme off-roading.
The video has been uploaded by iam brintow on his YouTube channel. The vlogger owns an old generation Mahindra Thar and has modified it to enhance the off-road capabilities. He along with his friends were planning to go off-road to a place called Urumbikkrara hills in Kerala. Other SUVs in this trip were the current generation Mahindra Thar, first generation Toyota Fortuner and Pajero SFX. Out of these four SUVs, old generation Mahindra Thar and the Pajero has been modified for off-roading while the other two SUVs only get minor modifications.

The group starts travelling and they soon start getting a hint on how the road ahead is going to be. In a landslide last year, a portion of the roads were washed away and there are rocks all over the place. The group soon enters the rough road section. Old-generation Mahindra Thar was doing pretty well in those conditions. The off-road modifications done to the car had only helped in increasing the overall capability of the Thar. All the SUVs were performing well initially.
Soon, the terrain started to change There were steep climbs filled with loose rocks of different shapes and sizes. The old generation Mahindra Thar and the Pajero SFX effortlessly climbed up with these section. The current generation Mahindra Thar got the bumper hit at several spots. It almost came off from the car at one place. The bumper on both Fortuner and Mahindra Thar were not modified. Both the SUVs were equipped with off-road tyres but, at many places, the bumper was coming in the way.
Fortuner was also struggling at places as there is no differential locks in the older Fortuner. With right technique however, Toyota Fortuner was also making progress. A rider in his Royal Enfield Himalayan was also with the group and the terrain was so harsh that the biker fell many times. The old-generation Mahindra Thar was performing well and so was the Pajero SFX. The new Mahindra Thar was was also doing pretty well. The path was so narrow at places that without proper guidance from the spotter, the car would easily get stuck.
The whole trip was well planned and that is how such off-road trips should always. In this video, the vlogger and his friends have not reached to the top yet. They are making progress very slowly as the terrain very tough. The group was carrying recovery equipment in case any vehicle gets stuck. They were also travelling in a group which is very important especially in such risky spots.
