Mahindra Thar vs 2021 Force Gurkha compared in an off-road video

Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha are currently some of the most affordable 4×4 SUVs one can buy in Indian market. Most of the other options are expensive when compared to these two. We have seen several videos of Mahindra Thar in different terrains and the same is applicable for 2021 Force Gurkha as well. Both SUVs are without any doubt capable off-roaders and this has been proven in various video that are available online. Here we have a video where a Force Gurkha owner compares it with Mahindra Thar in an off-road video.

The video has been uploaded by DCV Expeditions on their YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger takes his all-new Force Gurkha to the mountains. In this video the vlogger along with his friends who own current generation Mahindra Thar SUVs explore broken mountain road sections. In this video, the vlogger who also has Mahindra Thar compares both the vehicles on off-road sections. Vlogger and his friends start driving up a mountain road and they came across a section where the entrance to the road was narrow and had mount of soil on one end.

Vlogger had passed through this section in the past in his Thar and the SUV has done that without any problem. He wanted to know how Gurkha would behave on the same situation. Force Gurkha has smaller wheels and the articulation is also less when compared to Thar. The wheels were lifting in the air while the vlogger was trying to clear the section. The wheels were spinning freely as the diff locks were not engaged. After the vlogger realised that the car was struggling, he engaged diff locks and the Gurkha climbed up without any problem.

Through the same path, not one but, three Mahindra Thar SUVs came up and none of wheels came up in the air. The articulation was better and the wheels were always connected to the road. Vlogger was aware about this fact and he can be heard saying in the video that Mahindra Thar is better in such situations. The automatic diff lock on Mahindra Thar also helps during such tricky situations. After clearing the obstacle, the group moves up the broken mountain road. Force Gurkha has a stiffer suspension set up and this helps the SUV on the broken roads. Vlogger mentions that due to the firmer setup, the SUV can easily be driven on such roads.

As this is a tall vehicle in comparison to Thar, a fair bit of body roll is felt when the car does climb up rough sections. In short, vlogger says that both Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha have their own set of advantages and disadvantages. Mahindra Thar is available in both petrol and diesel engine option. Both petrol and diesel engine options are available with manual and automatic transmission. Force Gurkha was launched in the market last year and it is offered with a diesel engine only. It is a BS6 compliant 2.6 litre diesel engine that is available with a manual gearbox only.
