Mahindra Thar vs Tractor: Who’ll win in a tug of war [Video]

Mahindra Thar is a capable 4×4 SUV. It became popular among buyers for its rugged looks and off-road capabilities. The Thar is currently so popular that it has a waiting period of almost an year on it. We have seen several off-road videos of new Mahindra Thar but, here we have a very different video where the SUV is seen competing against a vehicle from a different segment. It is seen competing against a farm tractor in a classic tug of war video.

The video has been uploaded by The Experiment TV on their YouTube channel. In this video, vlogger is competing against two farm tractors. There is a small or a mini tractor and a regular size farm tractor. Mahindra Thar seen here in the video is a petrol variant which uses a 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine. The mini tractor uses 800-cc engine while the other tractor has a 2.4 litre diesel engine.

In the first round, the Mahindra Thar and the mini farm tractor is lined up. The vlogger chose a open field for this experiment. Both the vehicles tied to each other using a thick piece of rope. Vlogger was driving the Mahindra Thar and his friend was driving the mini tractor. The competition started and both the drivers started pulling each other. Looking at the size of the vehicle, it felt like Mahindra Thar will be winning the round without any problem. The mini tractor however proved to be a good contender. It was trying hard to not loose and even pulled the Thar at times.

After sometime, the rope which was used to tie the SUV and tractor broke. They tied the rope again and started pulling each other. Vlogger mentions that 4×4 was not engaged for the rounds with mini tractor. In the second round after tying the rope, the mini tractor lost grip at one point and could not regain it. Mahindra Thar took advantage of the situation and pulled the tractor with it.

In first round, Mahindra Thar was declared the winner. For the second round, the Massey Ferguson tractor was brought in and they were both tied with the same rope. For this round, the 4×4 was engaged in the Thar. Considering the size and the type of work that it is meant to do, it was expected that the tractor might have a upper hand. It also has a bigger engine out of the two.

The competition started and the tractor started pulling the Mahindra Thar. It felt like Thar might loose the round but, then the driver put his foot down and the Mahindra Thar started pulling the tractor without any problem. In comparison to a Mahindra Thar, the tractor looks quite old and that could be reason why it did not win the round. Mahindra Thar is a capable off-roader and it is available with both petrol and diesel engine options. Both petrol and diesel engine options get manual and automatic transmission and it is offered with 4×4 as standard.
