Mahindra testing the Thar in new colours including white and silver

Mahindra launched the all-new Thar earlier this year in six colours. However, two best-selling and most common colours seen on the Indian roads – White and Silver were missing from the catalogue. A few days ago, we showed you that Mahindra is testing the Thar in a new Silver colour. New pictures now show that the brand is also testing a white coloured Thar.

The new pictures of the Mahindra Thar on the public roads show the vehicle without any camouflage. It sure is a test mule since there is a company code on the side of the vehicle and it is on the temporary number plates. Nothing else seems to have changed in the vehicle, at least in the exterior of the car. It is possible that Mahindra is testing some new feature, new seats, or any such different thing that we might get to see with an update in the coming months.

We are not sure why Mahindra is testing the Thar with new colours though. Only a few days ago, a Mahindra Thar with tore off camouflage revealed the silver colour, which is also not available in the showrooms as of now. It is possible that Mahindra will introduce the new colours with some minor updates that will iron out the minor niggles.

White and silver are the two most common colours of the vehicles in India. In fact, the colour white sells the most in the country. People love the white shade so much that someone has already done a paint job on a brand-new Thar to change its colour. The pictures that surfaced a few days ago shows a white coloured Thar with body graphics. Currently, Mahindra offers six colours with the all-new Thar including Red, Black, Beige, Aquamarine, Grey and Cooper.

Thar with new colour

The all-new Mahindra Thar has already become a massive hit in the Indian market. There are many who have reported that the waiting period has now extended to about 8-9 months depending on the variant and location. Mahindra has announced that they are working on increasing the production of the Thar but it has not been effective in reducing the waiting periods yet. The Thar also became one of the safest cars in the country with a Global NCAP rating for four stars.

Mahindra Thar has become much more practical than before with the updates. It now offers three different kinds of roof option including a factory-installed hardtop roof. The Thar also offers petrol engine for the first time and Mahindra has also added optional automatic transmission too. The all-new Mahindra Thar offers a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 150 PS and peak torque of 300 Nm. It gets an automatic as well as a manual transmission. The diesel variants get powered by the 2.0-litre mHawk diesel engine that generates a maximum power of 130 PS and 320 Nm. It also offers a manual as well as an automatic transmission option.

The cabin of the Thar has become much cosier than before. The top-end variant offers a touchscreen infotainment system with an analogue instrument cluster and digital MID. The rear seats are now front-facing. Mahindra discontinued the side-facing seats available with the base variant after the Global NCAP safety rating.
