After three big super hit car launches – All new Thar, XUV700 and Scorpio-N – Mahindra will continue to keep the launch pedal floored. In the next 12 months, the Indian SUV giant will launch 4 new cars. Here’s what’s coming in.
XUV300 Facelift
The facelifted Mahindra XUV300 compact SUV has been on the anvil for a while now. Mahindra has been testing this sub-4 meter offering, and the launch is expected to happen later this year. Cosmetic changes on the outside to make the SUV look fresher, and feature additions on the inside are expected. The facelifted SUV will get a more powerful tune of the 1.2 liter-3 cylinder turbo petrol engine – 130 Bhp-230 Nm, a step up from the 110 Bhp-200 Nm outputs. This engine was recently introduced on the XUV300 range. The diesel engine will remain the 1.5 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged unit with 115 Bhp-300 Nm outputs. These engines will ensure that the XUV300 retains its ‘most powerful vehicle in the sub-4 meter compact SUV segment’ status. 6 speed manual and AMT options will be offered on both engines as is the case currently.

The result is a longer vehicle that measures about 4.2 meters, and of course a boot that’s much bigger (by about 100 liters). The XUV400 electric SUV gets some impressive specifications: An electric motor that puts out 150 Bhp-310 Nm, a battery range of and a battery pack that can be fast charged in just 40 minutes. The Mahindra XUV400 EV will be launched in January 2023, and will rival the Tata Nexon EV.
5 Door Thar
Mahindra has begun testing the 5 door, long wheelbase version of the Thar off roader on Indian roads. The 5 door Thar will offer spacious seating for 5 adults and a capacious thanks to the longer wheelbase, and will be a lot more comfortable ingress and egress thanks to the additional set of doors. The SUV is expected to be priced similar to the Mahindra Scorpio-N, and is expected to borrow both turbo petrol and turbo diesel engines from the Scorpio-N. Even gearboxes will be borrowed while a four wheel drive layout is likely to be offered across the variant line-up. An Auto Expo 2023 debut is anticipated.
