The waiting period for the Mahindra XUV500 is likely to come down soon, as the company is rapidly increasing production of the vehicle. In order to cater to the market demand, Mahindra is planning to ramp up the production of XUV500 to 5,000 units by September- October, according to a statement by the company.
“We have been gradually increasing the production of XUV500. It has touched 4,000 units a month now and the next step is to take it to 5,000 units by September-October,” Pravin Shah, Chief Executive, Mahindra Automotive Division was quoted as saying by a news agency. He says the overwhelming response to the XUV500 in today’s challenging market environment is a testimony to the vehicle’s popularity. With increase in production, waiting period of the XUV500 will drop significantly which is good news for potential buyers.
In the present round of bookings that opened on June 8, the XUV500 can b e booked from any dealership in India. Mahindra XUV500 has registered 7,200 plus bookings within two days of opening the bookings pan India. This is quite an achievement considering the auto industry facing hiccups in the form of low car sales due to rising petrol prices, high loan interest rates and inflation. Sales of the XUV500 has remained consistent and matches its production. In May, 3,471 units of XUV500 were sold and in the earlier months (April and March) too, sales stood at 3,403 units and 3,108 units. The XUV500 outsells its direct rivals such as Tata Aria and Skoda Yeti by a huge margin because the rivals (Aria + Yeti) sell at less than 100 units a month.
