These outputs make the U321 MPV more powerful than the Maruti Ertiga and Renault Lodgy but less powerful than the Toyota Innova Crysta. The Bhpian also reveals that pricing of the U321 will be slightly higher than the Ertiga, and at the same level of the Lodgy. At those prices, the U321 MPV will massively undercut the Toyota Innova Crysta.

The U321 is expected to be sold with 7, 8 and 9 seat layouts. The top-end variant will get the 7 seat layout with captain seats on the first and second rows. The lower variant that will be aimed at the cab market are likely to get 8 and 9 seat layouts. A petrol engine is also likely to be offered on this MPV, which will be front wheel driven.

Mahindra has not yet revealed any information about the transmission options on this MPV. While a manual gearbox is a certainty, we’re not sure if an automatic gearbox will also be offered. The latter is likely as a lot of family MPV buyers demand automatic gearboxes.

Mahindra is expected to launch the U321 in the middle of 2018. The MPV is expected to be showcased at the 2018 Indian Auto Expo. The automaker has been testing this vehicle for over a couple of years on Indian roads. The MPV has been developed with inputs from Mahindra’s North American development center. It is expected to be a global product with high levels of refinement. It is also expected to be feature loaded. ABS and Airbags are likely to be standard across the range.
