When Mahindra launched the XUV 500 in the Indian market, they changed the mid-size SUV segment forever. The XUV 500 came with a lot of features and is still considered well equipped despite being so old. It came with over the top styling that looked aggressive. The SUV featured vertical door handles which were a first for any vehicle. Mahindra said that the styling and the door handles were inspired by Cheetah.
The XUV 500 was offered in diesel as well as a petrol engines. You could get it with a manual or an automatic gearbox. The cherry on top was the all-wheel-drive variant that Mahindra offered. It was priced aggressively. The demand for the SUV was so strong that Mahindra had to come up with a lottery system for the deliveries.
The XUV 700 is expected to take the XUV 500’s legacy forward. The new SUV will offer first in segment features, different engine and transmission options and unique styling that will help the XUV 700 to stand out from the crowd. The XUV 700 will go against Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus and Tata Safari. Unlike its rivals which are based on their 5 seater versions, XUV 700 will have its own identity as it is not based on any other Mahindra vehicle.
