Mahindra XUV 700 might be the most hyped vehicle of 2021. The internet is filled with spy shots of the test mules that have been spotted all over India. According to the rumours, the SUV could be unveiled at a media event on August 15th. However, the public launch will happen on the 2nd of October. The new generation of the Thar was also launched on 2nd October last year. It is important to note that nothing is confirmed or revealed by Mahindra themselves.
When Mahindra launched the XUV 500 in the Indian market, they changed the mid-size SUV segment forever. The XUV 500 came with a lot of features and is still considered well equipped despite being so old. It came with over the top styling that looked aggressive. The SUV featured vertical door handles which were a first for any vehicle. Mahindra said that the styling and the door handles were inspired by Cheetah.
The XUV 500 was offered in diesel as well as a petrol engines. You could get it with a manual or an automatic gearbox. The cherry on top was the all-wheel-drive variant that Mahindra offered. It was priced aggressively. The demand for the SUV was so strong that Mahindra had to come up with a lottery system for the deliveries.

The XUV 700 is expected to take the XUV 500’s legacy forward. The new SUV will offer first in segment features, different engine and transmission options and unique styling that will help the XUV 700 to stand out from the crowd. The XUV 700 will go against Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus and Tata Safari. Unlike its rivals which are based on their 5 seater versions, XUV 700 will have its own identity as it is not based on any other Mahindra vehicle.
Most powerful in the segment
The XUV 700 will be the most powerful SUV in its segment. It will come with the new generation of Mahindra’s engine which is much smoother and is known for refinement. The 2.0-litre petrol engine will belong to the mStallion range of engines that were showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. It will produce around 200 PS of max power. The 2.2-litre engine belongs to the mHawk range of engines. The engine would produce around 185 PS. Both the engines would be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Mahindra will also offer a 4×4 system on the higher variants.
Dimensions
The XUV 700 is a larger vehicle than the current XUV 500. It would be offered as 7-seater SUV. Because it is larger than the XUV 500, there would be more space for the occupants sitting in the third row. Mahindra could also offer the XUV 700 as a 6-seater SUV where it would come with captain seats for the second row.
Features
The XUV 700 would offer an extensive feature list. It would come with LED Daytime Running Lamps with LED headlamps and tail lamps. It would also get dynamic swiping turn indicators. There would be dual horizontal screens. The driver would get a digital driver’s display while the other display would be the touchscreen infotainment system. There would also be the largest panoramic sunroof. Then there are features like driver drowsiness detection, flush door handles, personalized voice alerts, auto booster headlamps etc.
