One of the showstoppers at the ongoing 2016 Auto Expo is the SUV Coupe concept by Mahindra. Called the Mahindra XUV Aero Coupe, the vehicle is based on the XUV, and in the concept form, it comes with suicide doors, a sloping coupe-like roofline, a slightly more futuristic looking front-end (thanks to LED lights) and a new rear. While Mahindra is yet to formally announce if this one goes into production, but the company has certainly hinted at its pricing, too.
The XUV Aero Coupe concept is powered by the same 2.2-liter as the XUV 500 but it makes 210 hp here. Running on 20-inch wheels, the Aero Coupe also benefits from multiple drive modes, as mentioned on the spec sheet of the concept. Designed in-house (while prototyping was done at Pininfarina), the Aero Coupe will be the company’s flagship if and when it’s put into production.
Talking of production, Mahindra’s Pawan Goenka did hint at the vehicle’s prices, in a recent interview. Talking to Money Control, Mr Goenka mentioned that the production version (if there’s enough public response and the company decides to go ahead with it) of the Aero Coupe is likely to be priced at Rs 20 lakh. He added that anything beyond that will not be suitable.
