While the heavily revised Tata Nexon.EV has been making headlines ahead of its launch, its direct rival, the Mahindra XUV400, has some surprises for prospective buyers. Mahindra has announced significant discounts for the XUV400, the only all-electric model in its current lineup. Dealer sources have confirmed that Mahindra is offering a flat cash discount worth Rs 1.25 lakh, which is substantial considering what the vehicle has to offer.
However, there’s a catch. This flat cash discount of Rs 1.25 lakh is being offered on only those units of the XUV400 that do not have electronic stability control (ESC) as standard. For those who don’t know, the Mahindra XUV400 was recently updated with ESC a few weeks ago. Therefore, the cash discount is applicable only to those models left in stock with dealers that came before the updated XUV400 was announced.
This significant cash discount on the Mahindra XUV400 comes at a time when Tata Motors is gearing up for the official launch of the all-new Tata Nexon.EV. The all-electric compact SUV from Tata Motors has been heavily updated inside and out, featuring a completely new exterior design and cabin layout, along with several new exterior and interior comfort and convenience features and standard safety features. Tata Motors will be launching the all-new Nexon.EV on September 14th in two versions – Medium Range and Long Range, across three trim levels – Creative, Fearless, and Empowered.
In comparison, the Mahindra XUV400, which was launched in India in January 2023, is being offered in two variants – EC and EL. Both of these variants have a front-mounted electric motor that generates 150 PS of maximum power and 310 Nm of maximum torque. However, while the EC variant has a 34.5 kWh battery claiming 375 km of range, the EL variant comes with a 39.4 kWh battery pack that claims to deliver 456 km of maximum range.

Discounts on other Mahindra cars
In addition to the heavy discounts on the XUV400, Mahindra is offering significant benefits of up to Rs 73,000 on the Marazzo, Rs 71,000 on the XUV300, Rs 50,000 on the Bolero Neo, and Rs 60,000 on the Bolero. However, there are no discounts on the Thar, Scorpio-N, and XUV700, as these three SUVs are already commanding extensive waiting periods.
While there are no new product launches from Mahindra planned ahead of this festive season, the brand is expected to unveil the five-door version of the Thar off-roader in the first quarter of 2024. Like the three-door version, the five-door Thar will have an upright stance but will come with more features such as a push start-stop button, auto AC, a bigger touchscreen infotainment system, and a sunroof.
