Mahindra is all set to launch the 2018 XUV500 Facelift on 18th April 2018 – that’s today! The SUV will get a long list of changes that Mahindra hopes will allow it to retake the numero uno position in its category, which is now held by the top-selling Jeep Compass. The facelifted XUV500 is expected to get a minor price hike and could be sold in 5 trims: W5, W7, W9, W11 and W11 Option Pack. The 7-seat crossover will get both petrol and diesel engines, manual and automatic transmission options, and even an all wheel drive layout on the diesel model. Here are the 5 big changes that the vehicle will get through the latest facelift.
1. More powerful diesel engine. Mahindra has bumped up power and torque figures on the 2.2-litre mHawk turbocharged diesel engine, from 140 Bhp-330 Nm to 156 Bhp-360 Nm. The 2.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine will remain unchanged, with 140 Bhp-320 Nm outputs.
Both engines will get 6-speed automatic transmissions while the diesel will also get a 6-speed manual gearbox. The petrol XUV will be front wheel driven while the diesel model will get an all wheel drive option in addition to having a front wheel drive mode as standard.
2. New looks. The XUV500 Facelift has received a major makeover, with a new front end. The rear end is also comprehensively restyled. Overall, the XUV500 is a much fresher looking car.
3. Plusher interiors. The XUV500 Facelift will be the most luxurious car that Mahindra has ever launched in India. From the soft touch dashboard to the diamond stitch pattern to the seats, the new XUV500 aims to outdo competition in terms of the luxury it offers.
4. Features will also see additions. The touch screen infotainment system of the facelifted vehicle will see significant changes, making it a lot more informative than before. Connectivity features, especially smartphone integration will also be improved in a big way.
