Mahindra is planning to scale up production of the XUV500 due to overwhelming demand. The company will increase the production to 3,000 units a month from the current 2,500 units, in the next couple of months.
This will reduce the waiting period for buyers who have already booked the XUV500. “The response to the XUV500 has been overwhelming and the demand is very good. The management will make every effort to ramp up the production.” Arun Malhotra, Senior Vice President, (Sales Customer Care) was quoted as saying by a news agency.
Mahindra re-opened the bookings of XUV500 on January 25th and within first two days, Mahindra has received 5,900 bookings. So, expect this number to rise further in the coming days.
Mahindra will use a ‘lucky draw’ in order to prioritize the deliver to the customers. The XUV500 application form is available only for 10 days, which started from 9 am on January 25th to 7 pm and will go on till February 4th. Interested buyers will have to deposit Rs. 80,000 via demand draft (DD) to the dealer who provides the application form.
After the booking period ends, Mahindra will conduct the draw at a central location in Mumbai. Applicants from different cities will be selected at random. The results will be announced on February 15th, 2012. The results will be published on the XUV 500 official website. Mahindra may also notify the winning applicants via courier/ e-mail/phone call and print media. In order to ensure credibility, a third party firm, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India Private Limited (DTTIPL) will validate the draw. The media will also be notified so they can cover the event.
