Mahindra XUV500 Xclusive Edition Launched in India

The XUV500 crossover from Mahindra has now received a special edition variant, dubbed the Xclusive Edition. This time around, the crossover’s special edition is not limited to a paint and sticker job but rather goes a few steps ahead to offer the buyer a raft of additional features. The top-end W8 variant of the crossover gets the additional features and is priced at 14.48 lakh rupees, ex-showroom Mumbai, for the front wheel driven variant without the optional electrically adjustable driver’s seat.Adding the 6 way electrically adjustable driver’s seat costs 13,000 rupees extra.

Only 700 units of the Xclusive Edition of the crossover will be built, guaranteeing a modicum of exclusivity. In terms of features, the special edition adds the following:

  • Electric sunroof
  • Reverse camera
  • Voice messaging system
  • Aluminium pedals
  • Alloy wheels with grey finish
  • 6 way power adjustable driver seat as an option
  • Anti-pinch power windows with one touch up-down feature
  • Illuminated scuff plates

The engine and transmission of the XUV500 remains unchanged, with the 2.2 liter-4 cylinder mHawk turbo diesel engine with outputs of 140 Bhp-330 Nm and a 6 speed manual gearbox. The SUV’s W8 variant is available with front wheel drive and all wheel drive options. Other features that were originally offered on the top-end W8 variant of crossover continue to be standard on the vehicle. The crossover is loaded with safety kit, with ABS+EBD, ESP, six airbags, hill hold and hill descent control offered.

The Mahindra XUV500 will get a more comprehensive facelift in the months to come. Many stylistic changes and mechanical refinements are expected to be rolled out in the facelifted model. Chief among the mechanical changes on this crossover will be a 6 speed automatic gearbox, attracting a new set of buyers whose other options are D-Segment sedans. A diesel hybrid version of the XUV500, with about 20 % increase in fuel efficiency is also in the works. The power and torque figures of the facelifted model are expected to be unchanged.
