Mahindra took the market by storm when they launched the XUV 700 at just Rs. 11.99 lakhs ex-showroom. It will be going against the likes of Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus and Tata Safari. When they first launched the XUV 500 in the Indian market, it was a hit because of its starting price of just Rs. 10.8 lakhs and the segment-first features that it was offering. Well, Mahindra is doing that once again with the XUV 700. Here are 10 segment-first features that the XUV 700 will offer.
Advanced Driver Assistance System
The XUV 700 will be the first in the segment to offer ADAS or Advanced Driver Assistance System. It would come with features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Sign Recognition, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Driver Drowsiness Detection, Front Collision Warning, Lane Keep Assist and Blind Spot Detection. As of now, only MG Gloster which is a full-size SUV and competes against the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour offers ADAS features.

Flush Door handles
The XUV 700 is the first SUV in the segment to use door handles that sit flush with the bodywork. This helps in increasing the aerodynamics of the vehicle. Also, they improve the look of the side profile of the SUV.
The XUV 700 will come with the most powerful engines in the segment. There is a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine that produces 200 PS of peak power and 380 Nm of peak torque. Then there is a 2.2-litre diesel engine that produces 155 PS of max power and 360 Nm of peak torque on the lower variants and on the higher variants, it produces 185 PS of max power and 420 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines are offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Skyroof
Mahindra is advertising that the panoramic sunroof that is fitted to the XUV 700 is the largest in the segment. They are calling it the Skyroof. It would let in a lot of light to the cabin. Thus, making the cabin feel airy.
Auto High beam assist
Mahindra has equipped the XUV 700 with automatic high beam assist. It detects that the SUV has crossed 80 kmph and turns on the high beam to increase the visibility. It would also be able to detect oncoming traffic and would turn off the high beam automatically.
3D Sound System by Sony
Mahindra has connected the AdrenoX touchscreen infotainment system to Sony sourced sound system. It uses a 13 channel DSP amplifier, a subwoofer and 12 speakers that are custom designed for the XUV 700. The speakers are also mounted on the roof to provide an immersive experience.
Dual-zone climate control
Mahindra is using dual-zone climate control in the XUV 700. So, the driver can set the temperature as per his/her liking while the front occupant can set a different temperature.
Alexa Connectivity
Mahindra has integrated Amazon Alexa into the infotainment system. So, you can ask Alexa to perform various tasks that are related to your vehicle. It should be able to open/close the sunroof, change the climate control etc. Moreover, it should also be able to control your appliances at home if you have Smart home devices compatible with Alexa.
Personalised Safety Alerts
Now, the vehicles come with Speed Alert System that beeps at the driver when they cross 80 kmph and 120 kmph. The driver would be able to set these alerts in the voice of his loved ones. THis should help in taking the attention of the driver more effectively.
All-wheel Drive
The XUV 700 is the only SUV in the segment that would come with an optional 4×4 drivetrain. The original XUV 500 was also offered with an all-wheel-drive powertrain. The XUV 700’s top-end variants would only get the 4×4 powertrain.
