Engine and gearbox
Mahindra is offering XUV700 with a petrol engine as well as a diesel engine. Both the engines produce class-leading power outputs. The petrol engine puts out 200 PS of max power and 380 Nm of peak torque. According to the homegrown manufacturer, XUV700 should hit 60 kmph in 5 seconds and it would have a top speed of more than 200 kmph.
The diesel engine produces 155 PS of max power and 360 Nm of peak torque in the MX variant which is the base variant. On the higher variants, the power and torque figures are bumped up to 185 PS of max power and 420 Nm. The diesel engine also gets four drive modes namely, Zip, Zap, Zoom and Custom. Both the engines are offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
The MX variant is only offered with a manual gearbox. If you get the diesel engine with the automatic gearbox then the torque output is increased to 450 Nm. Also, you can get the top-end Diesel AT with an all-wheel-drive system that can help in slushy situations. It is important to note that it is not the full-blown 4×4 drivetrain that we get on the Thar. The XUV700 is a soft-roader, not an off-roader.
More features coming to XUV700
Mahindra will be adding more features to the XUV700. The features that Mahindra could add are electro-chromatic rearview mirrors, a powered tailgate and ventilated seats. They will also discontinue the low selling variants of the SUV. It is also being said that the facelift of the XUV700 will get a more powerful tune of the diesel engine that would produce 210 bhp.
Prices
Mahindra has priced the XUV700 very attractively. It starts at Rs. 12.49 lakhs ex-showroom and goes up to Rs. 22.99 lakhs ex-showroom. You can get the XUV700 as a 5-seater or a 7-seater. It is available in MX, AX3, AX5, and AX7 trims.
