Mahindra XUV700 reaches Umling La; World’s highest motorable road

Mahindra XUV700 has created a lot of buzz in the market. The all-new vehicle was sold out within hours of launch. Mahindra has extensively tested the XUV700 in the past and we have already seen the spy pictures of the vehicle on the high altitudes. Now, the all-new Mahindra XUV700 has reached the highest motorable road in India – the Umling La, which is located at 19,300 feet above mean sea level.

The pictures by Siddharth Vinayak Patankar on Twitter shows two Mahindra XUV700 at the high mountain pass. Details of what challenges did the team face to drive the car to this point remain unknown. We are also not sure about the variant details of the XUV700 units reaching the Umling La.

Common challenges that vehicles face in high altitudes include loss of power in general. Also, diesel vehicles face cold start problems but the BS6 generation vehicles do not come with such challenges.

Reaching the pass, however, remains a major feat for any vehicle. The Umling La is located in Ladakh, the northern-most territory of India. The height of the pass is 19,300 feet above sea level, which is extreme and is higher than any other road in the vicinity. Interestingly, civilians are not allowed to go to this high altitude pass as it is located really near to the disputed territory.

The all-new Mahindra XUV700 gets an AWD system but there is no proper 4X4 with a low-ratio transfer case. However, there are multiple terrain modes that help the vehicle to cross extreme challenges.

 

2021 Mahindra XUV700

The vehicle also comes with ADAS or Advanced Driver Assistance System that will offer features like an automatic braking system, adaptive cruise control and even driver drowsiness alerts. The XUV700 also gets over 60 connected features that will allow the owners to control the features of the vehicle from anywhere in the world.

The XUV700 will be the first car in India to get integrated Alexa, which means that almost all the features in the vehicle can be controlled through voice. Starting with the multiple zone climate control system, panoramic sunroof and many others. Owners will be able to control the temperature of the cabin wirelessly to get the perfect cabin temperature when they enter the vehicle.

The all-new Mahindra XUV700 with 2.2-litre mHawk diesel and the 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine. It is quick and can do 0-60 in just 5 seconds. Mahindra offers three driving modes with the all-new XUV700 that will change the behaviour of the engine. Mahindra has not revealed the official power and torque figures of the all-new XUV700.

The petrol engine generates a maximum power of 200 PS and a peak torque of 380 Nm. While the diesel mHawk generates a maximum of 155 PS and peak torque of 360 Nm. Mahindra has not revealed the transmission options as of now.
