The ever-rising demand for Mahindra’s best sellers like Thar, XUV700, Scorpio-N and Bolero is not hidden from anyone. Mahindra XUV700, Scorpio-N, Thar waiting time to come down; Here’s why

All the authorized dealerships of Mahindra are sitting on long booking logs, and to meet the huge demand and clear existing bookings, Mahindra is now planning to increase its production capacity. Mahindra is evaluating the possibilities of ramping up its combined production facility to 39,000 units per month by Q4 2022-23, which currently is hovering at 29,000 units per month. However, reports indicate that Mahindra might ramp up the production capacity to 49,000 units per month by the end of Q4 2022-23 if the demand continues to witness a surge.

The evaluations to increase production will be considered by Mahindra based on the market demand and existing booking log, in addition to the demand from the export markets. If the demand continues to remain constant, the increased production capacity will be maintained for the next 2-3 years.

Long waiting period

To cater to the demand for the current three-door version of the Thar, Mahindra is planning to ramp up the production from 4,000 units per month to 6,000 units per month by the end of Q4 2022-23. For the XUV700 and Scorpio-N, Mahindra is eyeing to produce 10,000 units per month by Q4 2022-23, which currently stands at 6,000 units per month for each. However, for Bolero, which has been witnessing constant demand, the production capacity has been fixed at 9,500 units per month for the next two years. For the Scorpio Classic, Mahindra intends to produce 5,500 units per month for the coming months.

Apart from the current crop of best sellers, Mahindra is also considering the upcoming SUVs in the increased production capacity plans. One of the upcoming SUVs, from which Mahindra is already having high hopes, is the five-door version of the Thar. This new SUV, which is expected to come with a different name, will be a more practical and spacious offering over the currently-available three-door Thar while retaining all the positive attributes of the latter. Even considering the upcoming XUV400, Mahindra’s first new-generation fully-electric SUV, the UV maker is planning to produce 7,500 units of both XUV300 and XUV400 combined by Q4 2022-23.
