Mahindra XUV700 spied ahead of launch, interiors revealed

Mahindra’s new upcoming flagship SUV, the XUV700, has been recently caught testing in Leh. The pictures show that the car is now in production ready stage and in the final rounds of road testing. The XUV700 is actually a Ssangyong Rexton G4 but this time around, the company will rebadge the car as Mahindra owing to poor sales of the previous Rexton SUV in India.

The Mahindra XUV700 was undergoing high altitude tests in Leh this time around and has been spotted testing earlier as well. Mahindra seems to have completed giving finishing touches to the India version of the SUV, ahead of its launch next month. The XUV700 was first showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo.

It will be the most luxurious Mahindra ever with many first in class features like heated/ventilated seats among others. It also will be loaded to brim with safety features like ABS, EBD, 9 airbags and many more. Other features include, HID lights, electric sunroof, and dual-zone climate control. Also, expect Mahindra to keep the fit and finish up to mark as it will be their most expensive offering yet.

Talking of the engine, the XUV700 will come with a 2.2-litre diesel motor that makes 179 Bhp of power and generates 420Nm of torque. The engine will come mated to a 7-speed Mercedes-Benz automatic transmission, sending power to all four wheels. Earlier, there were speculations of a 6-speed manual also as available internationally but now it is unlikely to be sold here.

Compared to the current generation Rexton on sale in India, the new Rexton/XUV700 will be a better styled, more mature, and more dynamically competent vehicle. One of the major reasons why Mahindra is not bringing the SsangYong badge back is because of image issues.

The current-gen car was a good one but lost the game terribly when compared to the likes of the Fortuner and the Endeavour. Mahindra plans to upset that segment now and has made all necessary preparations for the same. This will be the next major launch for Mahindra after the XUV500 facelift and the Mahindra Marazzo MPV. With the pricing done right, Expect Mahindra to have another winner at their hands already.
